Summer School Project

This is our current project and where will be focusing our fund raising for the next few months.

The Summer School will address a number of issues:
Obviously it will assist the Children with their Education which we see as one of the key elements of equipping them with the skills they need to improve their future. See our EDUCATION page for more details on the problems (and solutions) the Children face in their day to day schooling.

Further, the State does not allow all Children to remain in the Orphanages during the long summer holiday (3 months June, July & August). Children who have been abandoned can be returned to the families which abandoned them. Children removed from families by Social Services for abuse issues are returned to the care of those who abuse them. The families often have problems with mental illness or addictions, some simply cannot afford an ‘extra’ child. Inevitably, many children end up on the street where they fall prey to the criminal gangs who lie in wait for them.

The Summer School will help provide solutions to both these problems.

The facility will be built in the countryside on the edge of Varna near a village called Kitchevo. The land has been acquired by The Hope & Future Foundation and amounts to approx 2 acres. The facility will comprise log cabins, toilet/shower facilities, storage shed, outdoor playground, sports pitch and will be landscaped and fenced using traditional, natural materials as far as possible.

The Hope & Future Foundation will manage the facility and run courses aimed at improving mind, body & soul. We hope to provide some of the manpower required by sending teams to work there.

Our desire is to see the facility finished and ready for the 2012 summer holidays so that we can start improving Children’s lives as soon as possible.
