Equipping Bulgarian Orphans with the skills to improve their lives
The House Of Rachel is situated in the village of Asparuhovo in Eastern Bulgaria.
Preparation of the house is well underway and it is hoped to have the first residents before the end of 2008.
There is a large garden which will be cultivated to provide fruit and vegetables for the residents (the majority of villagers provide for their own nutritional needs from their gardens and livestock)
A ‘house parent’ will be employed to help with the management of the house and to ensure a loving, caring environment is maintained.
Each resident will embark on a two year training scheme to provide them with domestic, social and vocational skills.
Partnerships are being forged with business people in the area to give ‘on the job’ training.
Strong links have been made with orphanages in the area so that potential residents can be identified.
